Dedicated to physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing, I have been on the path of yoga and personal transformation for 24 years. I have played the roles of student, yoga therapist, body worker and retreat facilitator. My greatest learning curve came after a car accident in 1993, leaving me feeling physically and emotionally helpless and unable to pursue my beloved yoga practice. During my recovery, I discovered the rehabilitative power of pilates, and their role in allowing me to safely resume yoga. I developed a more profound sense of compassion for individual differences and realized the importance of nurturing the unique differences in each individual. My training continued with wonderful teachers and yoga therapists in India, Australia and the USA, who continually motivate and inspire me. I love working with a variety of people of different ages, ability and background. Recently, I have began teaching children and teens.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am in my 60s.. can I still learn yoga? Of course! Yoga is for any age... its never too early or too late. It is important to find a class to suit your needs. We teach you to move safely and effectively. Props are used to support your body if needed. I am currently recovering from an injury. Can I still do yoga? Ask your health care practitioner if there are any movements you should avoid. Also bring in a condition report if you have one. You may be best to start with private sessions. What if I am just a beginner? Don't worry. Our classes have multi level instructions. Beginners atre given modifications to assist participation. What is are your retreat accommodations like? Accommodation may range from simple and stylishly zen to luxury options where possible. Single, double and twin share rooms or studios are standard. Where possible, we provide self contained bungalows for families or small groups of friends. Occasionally, there are camping options. What if I have dietary restrictions? All retreats cater to dairy, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets. When you register, you will be forwarded a Health questionnaire, where you may notify us of any specific needs you have, ahead of time. Retreats - do I have to follow a set structure? Absolutely not – every activity is optional. We create a basic structure that allows you free time-out. After many travel experiences with different people, it became obvious that regardless of the theme, everybody has a different concept of what a retreat means to them. Whilst some participants like to be more active, social and adventerous; others come to relax, enjoy meditative time or simply be pampered. This conflict of interests can create tension, especially amongst friends and family members.Extra group activity options, massages and local walks are there to enjoy for all at their own leisure. What are the classes like? Styles vary from dynamic and flowing to slow and deeply relaxing.Morning classes are more energising, with restorative practices towards the end of your day. On our retreats we offer various styles of yoga, pilates and pranayama meditation. Other classes may include intenSati, qi gong and ancient healing practices. During our longer retreats, we often include creative activities like cooking, bodywork, local traditional arts and dance. Will I fit in? Our classes are multi level, so you can participate, whether you are a beginner or seasoned yogi. Awareness Adventures attracts an interesting blend people, varying in age, culture and lifestyle.This enriches the group experience and many new friendships have formed. We cater to solo travellers, romantic couples, families, private and corporate groups. The flavour of our retreats ranges from meditative to adventurous and delightfully self indulgent.
