Aerobics
Aerobics have been a popular element of fitness centres for many years now, and aerobic classes can achieve a broad spectrum of fitness goals including additional strength, tone and cardiovascular health. Aerobics classes range from high intensity workouts to classes designed for beginners, people needing rehabilitation from injuries and even specific conditions.
Aerobics is often performed to high-intensity music, and aerobics instructors perform a variety of movements to the class while participants follow instructions and mimic movements to achieve the desired workout intensity. You can usually choose the type of aerobics class you want to participate in at your local fitness centre or gym.
Common types of aerobics classes include:
- Freestyle Aerobics - This is where an aerobics instructor choreographs their own movements, combinations and various techniques relating to the purpose for the class.
- Steps Classes - These typically use an elevated platform and a variety of movements up and down the 'step' to create a physically challenging form of aerobics.
- Pump Classes - This workout combines traditional weights with music and aerobic exercises.
- Water Aerobics - As the name suggests, this form of aerobics is performed in a swimming pool. Apart from providing an interesting way for you to enjoy your aerobic workout, it also minimise joint and muscle injury.
There are many more variations of popular aerobic activities in the gyms and fitness centres across Australia. To find out more about the particular aerobics classes a fitness centre is currently offering, contact fitness centres near you today about aerobics.
