    Why exercise in the morning

I know I love to exercise in the morning, I feel great for the rest of the day. I know I’ve done my workout and I have the day free for family, friends and that thing you call work (Training my wonderful F!T F!X clients).

I know there are many added benefits to choosing morning time to any other. Even if you manage to fit in just 15 minutes of exercise, it will help you stay happy and healthy all day long. So now your wondering why waking up early is beneficial?

    Benefits of Morning Exercise

    • When you exercise in the morning it will automatically put you in a healthy frame of mind. As you have increased intake of oxygen and circulation of blood in your body, you’ll stay energised for the whole day. You will notice that you will be enthusiastic and energetic to handle anything on your schedule. Kimberly Stubing finds she is more energetic at work when she does a workout in the morning.
    • Morning exercise is a great way of waking up your brain, it will help you organise your thoughts and make mental lists of what the day holds for you. It will help you to be alert to plan out your daily, weekly, even monthly schedule. This is why I (Adam Fowler) love it. It helps me prepare my day.
    • Morning time is the quietest and most peaceful time of the day and can help reduce stress that has built up due to work, family and other life situations. It gives you alone time, time to think and work things out for yourself, without being disturbed. I (Adam Fowler) love instructing the Morning Group Fitness session at Clonlea Park, you get to hear the kookaburras, see people walking dogs and feel alive!
    • Morning exercise helps increase metabolic rate, meaning you end up burning calories throughout the day, no matter how often you may choose to eat. But you still need to take care about what you put into your body. Susan May – Body Builder loves to do her cardio in the morning.
    • Waking up at around the same time everyday and exercising daily at the same time will help you get into a routine and prepare your body for the rest of the day. The human body is a learning machine. You can train it to be on schedule with your exercise program. I cannot even sleep in on the weekends any more. You can get so much done in one day when you get up earlier.
    • Exercising in the morning, you will get your session in, and you make sure that you won’t miss it out for the day. A lot of times other things can take over our exercise time like work, meetings, home work, children, social events etc. So exercise tends to get pushed aside at times. I am sure something has popped up and stopped you getting to a Group Training Session.
    • Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I like to give my body the fuel it needs. Most people eat a light breakfast before they exercise in the mornings. This is a double bonus. Eating breakfast will keep you going the whole day and also kick starts your metabolism. Exercise and breakfast are a great combination.
    • If you choose morning time for your exercise program, then chances are that you’ll stick to the plan for the long term because research has proven that people who exercise in the mornings tend to be the ones most consistent in their fitness regimes and diets. Think about it, if you exercise first, have a good breakfast, then you have the day free, you’re doing all the right things to get results.

So now all you need to do is set that alarm, and become a morning exerciser. I know your going to say “I don’t have time”, well what I say to that is, go to bed earlier and wake up earlier, get your exercise session in and out the way. Try it for a couple of weeks. In that time you will be able to tell whether mornings work for you or not. Let me know how you go with it.
